Inspired by Meb Faber’s monthly timing model, this example decides when to hold each ETF and when to stay in cash. It shows how written rules become an executable algorithm.

Explore the strategy rules
Each month, compare the last closed price with its ten-month moving average, including that month. Hold above the average; stay in cash below it. Equality retains the previous state.
Each active sleeve has a fixed 25% weight. Inactive sleeves stay in cash, without redistribution. Long-only, monthly rebalancing and explicit exposure limits.
Symbols: CSPX.UK, EIMI.UK, ITPS.UK and IUKP. US equities, emerging equities, inflation-linked bonds and UK property. Available symbols vary by broker. This is a four-ETF adaptation of the author’s original model.

The final source compiled independently in production and native MetaEditor, with zero errors and warnings. It executed in the native MT5 tester over 2025, using one-minute OHLC data without parameter optimization.
